The Basics:
The Ngorongoro Coffee House sits on an acre or two of land that is surrounded by a sea of real coffee plantations. The general area is very non-touristy and off the beaten path. As you are driven to and from this rurally located hostel you will see many poor locals, who combine subsistence farming and working on the coffee farms to make a living. The lodge is run by the Episcopal Catholics of Tanzania so it's clean and reputable. The two young people that I met working there were very kind and friendly. The lodge is situated a ways from the main road so be ready to add about 45 minutes of driving each way.

Like other poorly named lodges, the Ngorongoro Coffee House does not exactly live up to its namesake. It is in the Ngorongoro area, but a good hour or two from the crater itself. However, this lodge rests amidst more true coffee plantation than any other I've visited.

The lodge is also about 15 minutes from the Rift Valley Orphanage. If you would like to visit the orphanage, and make a donation, then staying at this lodge makes it convenient to do so.

The Photos:
Ngorongoro Coffee House, Tanzania, Africa Here it is. The place is small and simple but what is there is well cared for.

Ngorongoro Coffee House, Tanzania, Africa The rooms are very small and very simple. Just a bed, or beds, and your own bathroom. The accommodation here is more along the lines of what you would expect to find in a typical youth hostel.
