Momella Lodge
The Basics:
Momella Lodge is nestled in a beautiful and sparsely populated corner of Tanzania that is bordered by
Arusha Park to the South and is within site of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru.
When you arrive and get settled it's hard not to get the feeling that this was once a grand residence that has since suffered some lack of upkeep.
You can sense that it is not getting the care and attention that it deserves.
Having said that, it's not a bad lodge.
What it lacks in upkeep it makes up for in great location and is one of only two lodges in the area.
From here it is a very convenient continuation of your second day in Arusha Park.
Staying here means more hours in the park and isn't that the real reason for going?
For those looking to stay nearby but in a much nicer place, see my review page on Hatari Lodge.
The Photos:

About half the rooms are like this.
Detached bungalows with your own porch.
There are no fireplaces, which is too bad because this area can get quite cool at night.

From the porch your view is not the best, but still a nice place to sit, look out, and think.

Here's the inside.
Simple, but has everything you need.
I actually kind of like the 90's style wallpaper - 1890's, that is.

The other half of the bungalow are Masai Doma style thatched-roof huts like this.
The room is a little smaller but has the kitsch of being circle shaped and connected to a circle shaped bathroom.
