Ikoma Tent Camp
The Basics:
In spite of its name, the Ikoma Tent Camp's accommodations could hardly be described as camping.
The tents themselves are those large semi permanent army-style ones made of thick canvas.
The bathrooms are proper concrete structures with plumbing, hot water, and a shower.
There are beds and regular furniture inside.
All this is shaded by a permanent thatched roof.
The staff here is very nice and helpful.
They also have a very good buffet and they take good care to make sure you have a good sized
boxed lunch to take with you on your long day on safari in the Serengeti.
Camping like this I think is much preferable to staying in a lodge when visiting the Serengeti.
This is the Serengeti after all!
Huge open spaces and countless animals roaming around.
In a tent you can really sense and feel like you are in the heart of Africa.
The Photos:

This is where I'd like to be sitting having my coffee tomorrow morning.

These are the old tents.
By the time you read this they will all have been replaced by new ones shown above.

Here's the bathroom in your "tent."

The dining hall.
At night there is a fire in a pit there to the left.
You can eat outside by the fire if you'd like.
