Hatari Lodge
The Basics:
Hatari Lodge is a study in contrast.
On the one hand you have yourself an exclusive high end lodge decorated in very high quality
furnishing and modern styling.
On the other hand you have a very authentic African safari lodge in one of
the most desirable and truly "African" locations in northern Tanzania.
The lodge is located on the north side of the Arusha National Park and neighbors Meru tribal land.
It sits on a 40 foot high little hill and the bar veranda overlooks a lush open plain below.
From here you can sit and watch animals as herd of animals migrate through.
The real highlight is the stairway that leads down to a high raised wooden platform on the plain below.
The platform comes complete with chairs, bar service, and a fire pit.
You hang out there long enough and you can get an eye to eye view of elephants and giraffes as they walk by.
The Photos:

There are only a handful of cottage rooms available at the Hatari and each has a color theme.
Here's the bed in the green room which has a comfortable futon-like mattress on a hardwood raised platform

Here's the red room's bathroom.
The stonework is luxurious and amazing.
The decor items look like they could have come straight from Europe or some boutique in Beverly Hills.

Every room has a fireplace, of course.
You'll need it here as it usually gets quite cold at night.

Here's the view from the bar.
Below is the platform I was describing.
Imagine yourself sitting down there in the early evening, by an open fire pit,
sipping a tasty beverage, as herds of Elephants walk by.
