The Basics:
Bougainvillea is a brand new lodge was still being constructed during my last trip so my review will be based on a work in progress. Here are my first impressions.

Bougainvillea is situated in Karatu, a town that has easy access to Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara National Park. You have to be a little careful with lodges in Karatu. Many of them are on or very near the main road. Bougainvillea Lodge is very conveniently located about half a mile from the main road, making it far enough to be away from the noise, but close enough to offer convenient access.

As you can imagine by its name, this is a very flowery lodge. The grounds are colorful and filled with flowers. I didn't get a chance to try the food but I'm sure a new place like this will be on its best behavior to make a good first impression.

The Photos:

Bougainvillea Lodge, Tanzania, Africa All rooms are in these newly built double detached bungalows.

Bougainvillea Lodge, Tanzania, Africa The rooms were sparsely furnished, possibly because the lodge owners hadn't put everything in them yet. The floor was polished red concrete. The room was spacious (or seemed that way because of the lack of furnishings) and pentagon shaped.

Bougainvillea Lodge, Tanzania, Africa All the rooms have fireplaces though. And this one had an interesting cow skin drum as a coffee table. If someone ever was to make a coffee table book about coffee tables then this would certainly be in it.
